Frequently Asked Questions

Lawn Care Frequently Asked Questions

What is lawn care?

Lawn Care is our lawn and ornamental pest control and fertilization. The main purpose of lawn care is the health of your lawn - keeping it well feed and free of pests.
My philosophy of lawn care is to encourage St Augustine grass with good fertility, kill the more serious pest like chinch bugs, grubs, and mole crickets and constantly discourage the weeds. And from those three efforts, your St Augustine grass SHOULD get better and better. I say "should" because there are two things required of the owner - water as often as law permits and mow as high as your mower will go. Or as I am fond of saying "Keep it tall, keep it wet"

How much does it cost?

An average interior lot is $75.00 - $85.00 per application. The minimum is $50.00 per application - reserved for small front yard only turf areas. Corner and large lots are higher and priced not solely on square footage but on time and materials.

How do I start my service?

Call the office at 727-423-7967 and ask for a free estimate, provide your name, address and contact phone number. I will visit your lawn, when I come I will knock on the door, if you are home we can talk then or call you later with a price, service options, and recommendations on how to improve your lawn – at no charge to you. There are no contracts – agree with the price and shortly after that I will place your home on a regular route in your area and start your regular lawn spraying.

How do I cancel my service?

There are no contracts, no penalties and no fees to cancel. To cancel your service all you need do is call, write or leave a note on your last payment and asking to stop the service – no forms to fill out, no hoops to jump through, no questionnaires or begging you to keep the service – just tell me you want to stop the service.

How do I pay for my service?

We prefer you pay online with a debit or credit card or you can send a check - that is your choice. Shortly after the service you will receive a notice by email with a link to your online account where you can pay your bill using your credit or debit card. You can also pay using your bank’s online bill pay service or personal check. If you do not have an email account or prefer a paper bill sent via US Postal Service, there is a paper bill service available for additional $5.00 per billing cycle. (Paper bill service includes a return envelope to mail your check)

How often do you treat the lawn?

Six (6) times per year is the basic service. I also offer twelve (12) times per year. The basic service (6 times per year) provides for excellent insect control, medium fertility levels, and fair weed control. For better weed control I suggest a short cycle of monthly spraying for 3 months during peak weed season and then return to 6 applications per year. The twelve times per year is a premium service who want that level of service.

How long after spraying before we go on the grass?

Nothing I spray on the lawn is known to be harmful to people or pets but it does stain and you do not want to track the product into your home. So it is best to stay off the lawn until it dries - usually after an hour.

Pets, is it safe for pets to go on the lawn?

On most workdays, millions of lawns will be treated in Florida and no pet or human will be harmed. The modern chemicals we use are not the skull and crossbones poisons of the last century. As a matter of fact, the most widely used insecticide is the same insecticide used in flea shampoo for pets. Even if a pet was to wander on a freshly sprayed lawn, they are in no danger.

What does the homeowner need to do?

Mow the lawn as high as the mower will go and water as often and as much as the law permits. Also paying your bill before the next service is a good thing.

What do I get for my money?

You are paying for a lawn care service. The service is: deliver to your lawn the finest fertilizers, insecticides, and herbicides and apply them accurately and evenly to your lawn.
What you get: A healthy lawn that is a natural and attractive setting for your house. Fewer bugs in and around your house, including fleas, ticks, crickets, ants, and other creepy crawlers, and an agronomist who can answer many of your questions about your landscape. We also have a network of other solid independent contractors for irrigation repair, landscaping, and mowing.

Do you guarantee your work?

Yes and No. Yes, we guarantee we will treat your lawn with the finest fertilizers, insecticides, and herbicides and guarantee that work (in case of a spill or damage we may cause). No, we do not provide landscape insurance – hiring us does not guarantee your lawn will be perfect - results depend upon you watering the lawn and mowing it as high as the mower will go.

Home Pest Control Frequently Asked Questions

Do you treat in the inside of house?

Our system is to treat the outside of the house - to create an invisible barrier to insects from entering the home. This is very effective from preventing pests from moving from the outdoors into the home and rarely will a homeowner require interior treatments. If a pest is introduced into the home - for example, brought in on some boxes - we will treat the interior.

What is home pest control?

Our home pest control service can treat a myriad of different pest problems in the home - from ants on the kitchen counter to rodents in the attic - we do it all. Our basic home pest control service is 6 perimeter treatments per year.

How often do you treat?

Our basic service is 6 perimeter treatments per year - approximately every 8 weeks. We believe 6 perimeter treatments per year is the optimum - after 8 weeks, the products start to lose their effectiveness. We offer quarterly (every 12 weeks) treatments but on average you save $50 per year and the results are less than optimum. For the $50 you get much better results.

How much does your regular service cost?

An average single-story home under 2500 sq ft, costs $65 - $75 per treatment and we recommend 6 perimeter treatments per year. That includes service calls should you have a pest in the home. Quarterly treatments cost on average $85 per application. We don't recommend quarterly treatments because of the high failure rate. We also offer lawn and home bundles at a great price.

Do you treat ants?

Yes! And roaches, rodents, bees, flies - just about any pest you may have in and around the home. We don't do termites.

I have rats in my attic. How does it costs to get rid of them?

Every situation is different and a custom service. Rodent removal is priced on time and materials. I would suggest a budget of about $500 on average. Bigger attics, exclusion work, and multiple locations will cost more.

Do you offer a senior discount?

No, our prices are already at the lowest in the market. We do offer special prices when you bundle home pest control and lawn spraying.
